#360bazaarKL: A Duriana Review

After a hectic past few weeks, our blood, sweat and tears came together at 360 Bazaar Kuala Lumpur. Here’s the Duriana review

Our city’s skyline provided the perfect backdrop for the first 360 Bazaar Kuala Lumpur, which kicked off after 11am despite a slight drizzle. Vintage sellers lined the entrance pathway, selling quirky items like old records, copper antiques and silk scarves at bargain prices.

The day before... setup at 12pm & 12am.
The day before… setup at 12pm & 12am.

With the Duriana street team in hustle mode, distributing our non-woven tote bags, the event started smoothly. Of course with Wak Dayok in attendance, we saw everyone’s selfie game go up a notch (armed with monopods and all).

Our two stations – the collectibles and pre-loved area – managed to attract a steady stream of visitors. Our collectibles section showcased some of Duriana’s unique items – old 60s and Top 40 records, an antique cord phone and other American sportswear memorabilia.

Our pre-loved section was adorned with accessories, kitschy eyewear and secondhand dresses from high street labels like Zara, Topshop, ASOS and vintage markets. We were letting go tassle necklaces from Bali for RM10, clear-framed glasses for RM15 and our pre-loved dresses for a reasonable RM20. Although, if visitors made a bid through our app, we knocked off RM5. No surprise, it worked.

As colourful as the items on sale, we met a bunch of diverse people – a group of dapper gentlemen from Singapore, a couple travelling through Asia from Germany and a bunch of backpackers from Sweden. As organizers, this is always a great sign, so we were happy campers indeed.

Although the rain towards the end of the first day put a slight damper on festivities, spirits were restored on Sunday with a bigger crowd (and better weather). Big thank you to vendors who made the event possible and guests for your support. We would also like to give a big shoutout to our co-organizers PINTUmERAH, whose experience ensured the event went on without a hitch. Thanks guys. We are looking to next year’s event – and we hope you are too ☺

3 Reasons Why You Should Visit Duriana Booth @ 360KL!

Only three days left to the big day and we’re expecting a full house this weekend at 360 Kuala Lumpur. The Duriana booth, located after the entrance point, will be bursting with energy. Here’s why:

1) Free Tote Bags
As you may have read on our event page, we will be giving away non-woven totebags to the first 500 guests who come by our booth with the Duriana app on their smartphones. After reviewing the T&Cs, we’ve decided to open this giveaway only to guests and not vendors.

2) The Big 360 Giveaway
Throughout the course of the two days, we will be running a steady lineup of giveaways which will include Desiderata magazines, Gimme Shelter’s scrumptious salted caramel and biscotti sets and Moon E-Store’s practical wooden vintage boxes.

All you have to do is download the app (assuming you haven’t already) and simply make an offer of any amount on the items. Duriana will then pick one lucky bidder at pre-determined time slots of 2pm, 4pm, 5pm and 6pm. The winner will be notified via Duriana’s messaging feature so keep your phones close by at all times!

3) Our Pre-loved Station
If you love a good bargain, be sure to swing by our little makeshift pre-loved market of vintage trinkets, arts and crafts to clothes at the main Duriana booth. From Topshop dresses to old thrift finds, there will be plenty to rummage through. Of course, all items on display are listed in Duriana, so if you make an offer through the app, you will receive a RM5 discount. We will also be conducting how-to tutorials for novice Duriana users on how to use app, list products and maximize sales.

Market Day x BBQ Party!

With the blessing of the weather gods, our Market Day x BBQ party kicked off in perfect Sunday sunshine. Here’s a recap of what went down

With 110k listings under our belt, we started our weekend as Malaysia’s biggest M-commerce platform – not a bad way to kick off our first fleamarket event. With cheese sausages, grilled chicken wings and lamb chops on the BBQ pit, the crowd trickled in slowly but surely. The kitschy interior of Palate Palette provided the perfect backdrop for our vendors – who sold everything from pre-loved clothes ranging from RM5-25 to handmade notebooks. DJ duo Stellar Dreams played a steely three hour set and even dropped a few sneaky Justice and Daft Punk tunes. Cheeky fellas.

Overall, the event provided the perfect platform for our buyers and sellers to interact on a more personal level. More than a mobile commerce platform, Duriana believes in creating little communities that extend beyond the online world. It was great meeting our key sellers, and we look forward to helping them build their businesses on our platform. An exciting road lays ahead. Thank you to all our vendors who participated.

Our honour roll: Sisters Craft, Fashion Forward, The Oldees, Iconic, Eiffelz, Tempatan, Quad Blogshop, Creole and Medium Rare Store. We look forward to having you all at our next bazaar!
